Lung cancer screening

NLST and NELSON are significant lung cancer screening trials, with NLST showing a decrease in lung cancer mortality and NELSON demonstrating reduction with LDCT screening. Both trials found higher early-stage disease detection. Other underpowered trials include Dante, Italung, and UKLS. Challenges include defining positive screen criteria, lack of defined follow-up requirements, and potential biases in recruitment and academic center involvement.
